Appointed to lead the team (made up of subject matter experts) to consolidate Environmental, Health & Safety, Process Safety, and Transportation audits into one Responsible CareŽ audit. Also appointed to manage the new Responsible CareŽ audit program that includes:
determining audit priorities and site schedule,
staffing the audits,
training a global 40-person internal audit pool,
training and managing audit team leaders,
leading audit teams,
oversight of auditor activities,
report writing and review,
records management;
audit response approval, update, and tracking;
protocol development and updating for all RC codes, and
program manual development and updating.
Developed a state of the art environmental compliance audit program with management system root-cause analysis. A unique analysis technique guides auditors through the process of identifying management system deficiencies allowing them to identify and communicate to site management simply and succinctly whether flagrant or repetitive deficiencies are due to a management system defect.
Developed an environmental risk assessment approach (in collaboration with legal and company Superfund experts) to be applied to external contractors for disposal, toll, and contract manufacturers. Responsibilities include:
scheduling, coordination, leading audit teams,
assessment report writing for high risk contractors;
training other (UK and US) auditors to participate in and lead audits of this type;
reviewing their work product to assure technical accuracy and audit quality;
managing records in a central file, and
on-going oversight of the program.
Responsible for developing internal auditor training classes and programs for new auditors and refreshers for experienced auditors. The 40-person audit pool includes trained auditors from Japan, Taiwan, Korea, UK, Germany, Belgium, and the US.
Proposed the original idea and concept to automate seven silicone rubber mixers. The proposal was accepted, and I was responsible for the development of project concept and the engineering design package. Coordinated detailed engineering efforts, oversaw construction, and lead the startup of this "first in the company" automation project. The process operated for 20 years before any major rebuild and/or design was done.
